When I grow up...

If you would have asked me 12 years ago I would have said that I wanted to bypass barriers and join an elite community of fliers. I would say I am going to be an F-16 fighter pilot.

Asking me today provides a different answer. I want to be a student, a leader, and a mentor. Not just in the military. I want to provide leadership and mentorship to my daughter. I want to shelter her from unnecessary pain. I want to guide her through life's hard choices. I want to show her that women can be stong and still be tender. I want her to be better than me.

I also want to be a student of her life. Children see life with a filter that is filled with innoncence and endless possibility. She sees things in a way that is not always apparent to adults.

I want to lead and mentor those that are willing. I want others to learn from my decisions, from my successes, and from my failures. I want teach others that everything is a choice. Even when there seems to be no choice, there is a choice.

My business card would say changing one person at a time to be better than he/she was yesterday.
